Editor: LaptopSentry is a lightweight app that prevents casual laptop theft in public places. The concept is simple, you plug your power cord in and Lock the computer, and any Attempt to access or steal the computer or any peripheral (flash drive, mouse, etc.) triggers a loud, unmutable alarm.
Upon alarm activation, you will receive an SMS text notifying you of the alarm's activation, and files that you have identified as important will be immediately emailed to you inbox. LaptopSentry ensures that your laptop is not stolen when left unattended, and that your sensitive documents and data are fully protected.
In addition to protecting your laptop from theft, LaptopSentry ensures that no one accesses your laptop while you are away. A password protected lock-out screen covers your work from snooping eyes and ensures that no one but you has access to your documents and private information.
Although only 3% of stolen laptops are ever recovered, LaptopSentry ensures that you recover all of your important files. Upon alarm activation, LaptopSentry begins emailing all of your most important files to your email address and continues to do so as long as internet access is available.
In the event that your computer is stolen, LaptopSentry will immediately email you any IP address used to access the internet from your laptop, giving you the opportunity to alert the authorities and recover your laptop and data.
